Cybersecurity agencies from the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia have issued a joint advisory warning of an ongoing, coordinated cyberattack campaign targeting critical infrastructure in Western nations.
The campaign, attributed to a state-sponsored threat group, has targeted water treatment facilities, electrical grid operators, and transportation management systems using a sophisticated combination of supply chain compromises and zero-day exploits.
While the agencies report that no attacks have yet resulted in disruption to essential services, the level of access achieved by the threat actors suggests capability for significant operational impact if activated.
The advisory urges all critical infrastructure operators to implement specific defensive measures, including network segmentation, enhanced monitoring of industrial control systems, and immediate patching of identified vulnerabilities.
